Tomorrow marks my 2 years of being a happy non-smoker. I think the realization that I was an addict of sorts albeit legal made an impact. Trying to better my health in other areas led me to the belief that I could quit smoking. After 4 decades of smoking I finally came to understand how I started and how to end it.

Hence lesson 101.111111 and yes i won, won, won, won. And will keep on into infinity.

I derived this number by the 200 cigarettes I would have smoked over the past 2 years or 104 weeks. I can't imagine the residue of those 20,800 yes over 20 Thousand sticks of poison in just 2 years. I could have continued to slowly killed my cells 7 minutes at a time and wasted over 24000 hours which is 101.11111 DAYS saved from smoking. Even more when you consider that we sleep a third of our lives. Remember, this is just in 2 years!

Yes I think 101.11111 is something we might consider. I shudder to even think about multiplying the numbers for the course of my smoking history. And we wonder...."where did the time go?"

We can't go back in time, but we can make the most of what we have left. We can live and love being happy non-smokers!

Thank you for your kind responses. I am only too happy to feel I contribute after retirement to a cause so worthwhile. I enjoy my freedom and I know it is achievable by all. I can only hope that while is it very possible, for long time, heavy smokers to quit smoking but to also make it an easy journey for some, just as it was for me. I truly believe that it is a MINDSET and that forums making you feel accountable and in good company helps immensely. I also think it is a safequard to maintain your freedom and an opportunity to help others find theirs. I know that I look forward to posts and am truly happy for those that succeed.

    Great job young Lady :)
Yes, I figured up one time, that I had wasted 35000 to 40000 hours actually smoking. Naturally I never thought of all that, at the time. I smoked because I liked it. I enjoyed smoking. UNTIL, one day, I realized, I only thought that way because I was addicted to smoking, and then, had to quit. We used to say it was a bad habit, but make no mistake, smoking is an addiction, way beyond the addiction to nicotine, we were addicted to doing it. We let it define us, and run out life. We WERE smokers :) Ain't it GREAT to be FREE ! ! !
