i have 'tried' to quit smoking before where i only lasted between smokes, my will power to begin was non-existent. i started on Champix and my behaviours changed without needing to use any form of cognition, i guess the 'craving' to smoke just disappeared. i have found that the most challenging part now that i have been smoke free for 18 days is that learned beahviour response to certain situations has to be re-established without smoking. for me these include after meals, during study breaks and as a 'reward' after a task. as my family members smoked too (but have also stopped using champix) time between us is slightly unfullfilling (for lack of better words) and i hope that the 'cue to smoke' when with them will disappear.
