I am trying my best to quit smoking & I thought being a Australia Day would be a good start to my journey to be smoke free.. I had a couple of beers & half of a smoke, while I was sitting outside near the Bbq & the other half later. Still hoping to see light at the end of the tunnel. Your comments inspire me, keep them going.

JD

Today being the 27th I am smoke free. I feel like a beer, though I know, I will feel like a smoke even more. I am hanging in there.

Welcome JD. You are not depriving yourself, you are doing yourself the greatest favour ever. Not sure how long you have been lurking this site. It's the same message over and over....You can do this, it is all about the mind set. Read the Allen Carr book. And keep reading and taking support from this site.

Welcome JD, best decision you will ever make in your life. One day at a time....just don’t smoke today....make that your mantra every day.
There is no point in thinking or saying I am trying.....better to say I am no longer a smoker! As for having a beer.....I suggest that you learn to enjoy it without the smoke as soon as you can, or you will feel deprived. One day at a time and post on here as often as you can...it will help you to stay strong and focused.
    You can do this.

Welcome JD you can do this, we believe in you bcos we've all been at day 1. Just get through the day and tomorrow is day 2. Keep busy too, if thoughts of a smoke pop in your head just think I don't smoke and change your thoughts to something else quickly, don't entertain the mind games. You have the power and the control. Stay strong mate😊

Agree with everything said. I’m at day 27 and although I have not read Carr I’m adopting the mindset of breaking free, not depriving myself. I’m making a point of doing all the things I normally would- eg coffee or wine, sitting outside etc. My friend who smokes came over today and was worried she would trigger me if she smoked. I sad go for it, I’m not tempted at all. And I wasn’t. It’s not something I wished I could do, it’s the opposite now!

Hi JD. If you have the right mind set and decide that you will not smoke, it becomes easier. Be determined. Make cigarettes your enemy. Dont let them win. They are just little tubes of nastiness, that want to take your money and then kill you. Are you going to be beaten by a cigarette ? No you are not. Kick em to the curb. You can do it. Every smoke free day is a win. 🏁💕
