I am going to stop on Sunday which is 5days away. While this is not my first attempt at giving away this crutch, I truely believe if I keep trying I will do it.

I have come to see I am working so hard in different parts of my life that this is truely another area which I need to work very hard to achieve my goal.

You go for it Jo935!!! Make a plan and stick to it. May I suggest small rewards for yourself along the way, goals to aim for.

    Hi Jo935.. Welcome :)
Over the next few days, when you go to light one, stop for just a moment, and just look at that little tube of tobacco. Let yourself see, that you are a slave to it. Think about how stupid smoking really is, and ask yourself, if you have to have this one. You may find, that you can put it back, and just decide, you don't WANT it.. The key, to a successful QUIT, is to stop wanting them first.. Make that smoke something you don't want, not something you can't have, or something you have to give up.. And, what worked for me, don't get rid of them.. Many say throw everything away, but no, that just makes you feel deprived. I sat out on the porch, right next to a pack, lighter, and ashtray, where I had always had my coffee, or bourbon, but I made the smoke something I did not want any more.. Face the triggers head on, and be done. Sure, there will be physical discomfort, but it does not have to be craving, or wanting that smoke, and it will soon pass. I was a 45 year smoker, but I knew I was free in a short time, and that I would never want another one.. You can do it too.. Stop letting a cigarette run your life. The more you let yourself see the reality of being a slave to smoking, the easier it is to quit.

    Hi Jo935.
You may be surprised how easy it can be once you get through that first day. Once you realise that you were its slave, you can hate those smokes and never have to throw away good money again.
    Good luck

Hey Joe, well done on the first step...wanting to quit. With your mind in the right place, you can make this your final quit and never have to go through quitting again. This journey can be easier than you believe right now. Take one day at a time...get through one day at a time. Before you know it you have gone a week, just don’t get ahead of yourself...stay in the present...just get through today. I too smoked for 48 years and never thought I could be free....but I am and not only free....happier and healthier than I have ever been. You can do it too, make a smoke something you never want again, not something you can’t have.

Hi jo935. Its great you have a quit date. Stay positive and stick wih that date. Tell yourself that you dont want to smoke after that date. You are in charge. The smokes are not in charge. Stay strong. You can do it 🤠😊

Hi All -- Day 28 for me today! I have to say that reading all of your posts has helped me get this far -- so Thank You. Craving a lot of sugar, gained a couple of pounds, but I am breathing much better and have more energy. I smoked for 40 years, so I know I have to give it some time to level off - and I can't buy any more candy after this stash is gone....
