Major Surgery

I quit because I had to have major abdominal surgery. I spent 9 days in the hospital so I couldn't smoke. I wasn't about to go back to it when I was discharged. I look at my 10 in scar and know that I can't smoke again.

I should add that the above mentioned abdominal surgery waa directly related to smoking. I had an aorta that was completely blocked. I was getting almost no blood flow to my legs. They had to graft a new section in place. I can now walk and drive without pain but that time in the hospital was really scary.

    I have been a non-smoker since December 10, 2018.

Take this as a blessing in disguise that though u have to reach this serious stage but it's so good that u r on the quitter not a smoker anymore

As bad as it was Beth, you are here, a lucky one. Some don't get warnings and a choice to act on it. I am glad you are doing well and look forward to your participation in the community. All the best on your journey!

I was on NRT for the first 6 weeks. The last two weeks have been, for lack of a better phrase, cold turkey.
