It's been a while since my last post and I wanted to post an update. My partner and I have just returned from 2 weeks in Thailand and this is the first time that we have been on holidays where I have not smoked. The resort we stayed at was smoke-free, however there were a few designated spots where guests could smoke. I felt such a sense of power and freedom, particularly when I saw others smoking, and I remembered back to those days when the cigarette dictated every aspect of my life.
I used to think that smoking calmed me down, when I was upset or unhappy or stressed but now I can see that smoking didn't calm me down, it actually made my heart beat faster and made me anxious. On Day 1, I made a sign at home which says 'No More Nic A Demon' and I stuck this on my board in my spare room and I vowed never to smoke again.
Tonight, we have a friend coming over for dinner and he is a smoker and I am 100% confident that his smoking will not affect me. I have a bottle of Moet in my fridge and I will crack it tonight to celebrate Day 54 and saving almost $1000 so far.
Again, I want to say that I could not have done it without the help of this site and the lovely people who have replied to me with so much encouragement and positive comments. Thank you all again.
