    Happy Birthday

Posted in Staying quit 20 Mar 2016

Happy birthday to me........I can barely remember the feeling of smoking as usually when I smell people congregating on footpaths or standing outside of shopping malls it makes me sick. I cannot explain why something I loved three decades is now so repulsive and I wonder if it relates to the medication that I took. Financially quitting has transformed my life, and enriched my family. At 40 a...

I have started noticing things which make me believe that I may never smoke again....an example today was stopping at a traffic light and actually smelling the car next to me....it had one smoker inside but i was sickened by the aroma....I used to love that smell... was I insane? Money wise at today's prices (Quit NSW cannot keep up with price rises) I have pocketed more than $7,500. It is ha...

150 days...I almost died of shock. I must consider myself a non-smoker now. Life just keeps getting better...my emotional state has peaked and I tried running for the first time in years this week. To my amazement my lungs worked...oxygen circulated...whilst still overweight and unfit...I am capable of making this my next milestone. Between days 150 and 365 and am aiming at a 10 kilo weight l...

95 days...what the?...I am struggling to believe it is possible...everyday I celebrate that I am a non-smoker....everyday of the week I have an extra $30 in my pocket...i can taste food...I can walk that hill...I am a big, strong man but often get emotional about the journey. 2 weeks ago I purchased a new 4x4 in preparation for a massive family camping holiday...to me this car is free...the lo...

41 days, I cannot believe it, I never thought it was possible after smoking 40 a day for almost 3 decades. I stopped taking Champix before week two had been completed. I didn't like what it did to my brain, however, it is an amazing treatment and got me over all of the physical withdrawals of smoking. I have been in a number of situations recently where it would have been easy to smoke...privat...

Wow. Second week on Champix, half dose only and 8 days smoke free...no withdrawals at all...how is that possible? As I was a 40 a day smoker we are talking about a massive financial windfall. Tomorrow I will purchase 2 Fleetwood Mac tickets for a winery concert....what have I been missing all these years. My mood, breathing, sleeping and work output have improved significantly. I am con...

    2 days smoke free

2 days in, on Champix - quit day 5 of the drug- and I am amazed. No physical withdrawals, no mood swings and lots of energy. Each time I went Turkey I was either a quivering mess or angry as hell. I am approaching a point where I have to decide whether to take the double dose or halve the prescribed dose. I have read some blogs which worry me so if I maintain this state of mind I will maintain c...
