Posted in Hints and tips 12 Sep 2018

Anyone who is struggling with urges and cravings stay strong - quitting is possible; not always easy but certainly within reach. I am quit 5yrs today whoo hoo and that is after 40yrs smoking. Zyban and some bach flower remedies (including rescue remedy) helped me stop, and also a process called 'cognitive quitting' helped me stop, and I think 'cognitive quitting' (google it if you are unfamiliar,...

    it is do-able

Anyone struggling with their quit it is do-able if you keep trying, break it down into small pieces so you can be successful faster and more often; even if you start by counting quit hours instead of days, anything is a good start! I am now 4years 5 weeks quit after smoking for 40 years, and never get the urge now. I wish I could say I was richer too from saving the money that I didn't spend on c...

To anyone struggling stay strong it is do-able! I started typing how I managed to give up 2 yrs ago but can't count! I stopped smoking on 13Sept13!! I smoked for nearly 40 yrs - from 14yo to 54yo to only 2 unsuccessful attempts prior. Breaking the psychological habit is the hard part, I used a method called 'cognitive quitting' that I found on line, as well as flower remedies, acupuncture ...

    day 140

Haven't been here for a while; started busy then away then christmas, but amazingly haven't fallen over. Weird habit that 140 days after quitting you still get some bad urges. I think I'm past the real problems that may make me cave, but bloody wish the cigarette thought would leave me alone!!! Especially as I know I don't really want one when the thought does wave to me! For anyone earlier in t...

    day 50 smoke free

Well today is my first real milestone that sounds substantial!! day 50 without a ciggie, I have to admit I didn't think I would make it. And I've made it official - told my mother and told my boss!! that must mean I think I am over the worst hurdle (or most times I do) I have had maybe a day a week over the last few weeks that I swear have been worse than some of the days in the first ...

    one month tomorrow

Posted in Quit experiences 11 Oct 2013

well luckily I got through the toughest last week, was harder than the first few weeks, well harder to deal with anyway. I substitued food for ciggies for a whole week, and am at the 'my skin can't stretch anymore' stage! luckiy yesterday/today is a little easier, and seeing I am lighter at 54 than I was at 21 a few kgs won't hurt me - although a little more gradual to allow for skin expansion w...

    tough few days

Posted in Quit experiences 8 Oct 2013

Maybe I had withdrawal as I didn't check into the quit site over the long weekend, but I had a couple of REALLY BAD days. I am surprised I didn't cave actually. Weird timing as I've had some dramas with banks while waiting to settle on a property which should have been stressful, but my hardest days were after it settled, when I was walking around getting a feel and assessing stuff. Could b...

    day 12 and positive

Well I got through my second weekend and even passed my driving test - a 500km round trip without smoking! I thought that would be really tough, especially the drive home tired.  Some of the things that I thought would be hard are turning out to be easy, and some things that were easy the first week are now hard - go figure!! I hope you guys are wrong about weeks 3 and 4 being th...

    Coping surprisingly

Posted in Quit experiences 18 Sep 2013

Today is the clearest my head has been for a week since I started, so I can attempt more than 2 lines!! For the last week I either had clear head with cravings, or fuzzy/foggy brain no cravings, but couldn't make the brain go linear or hold a thought, even long enough to write it down!!! It has not been easy but I am surprised that I am dealing with it okay, weirdly last Saturday at home was the...

    quit day

Posted in Getting started 12 Sep 2013

Well my official quit day is tomorrow, and its probably been the longest buildup/prequit plan in the universe!!!! (and scaring me)  'Larch' is actually the bach flower remedy for fear of failure!! I've been smoking for 40yrs, was on about 20/25 per day, throughout this year I have managed to cut down to about 12 ciggies broken to 3/4 length, but not been able to take the plunge yet. C...
