Well here I am at 14 days and still smoke free. I just want to tell people here that might be having doubts about their ability to stay off ciggies that if I can do it, you can do it. I have been smoking since I was a young lad in the Canadian army..which is a long time before I moved to Austtralia. I'm 45 years old now, so that makes a good 27 years of cigarettes being engrained into my life. Af...

I fell off the wagon (stupidly) until last Monday. That was until I developed a nasty little respiratory tract infection and had to take four days off work..sick as a dog. I cannot think of any better motivation than to have your breathing obstructed so badly, as to feel like someone was sitting upon my chest. scary stuff to think that this is just a sample of what is just around the corner if I...

Well here we are at day three. Ive handled so many challenges in my life. Being an infantry solder, migrating to another country (I'm from Canada) and basically starting all over again from scratch, becoming an emergency service volunteer and all the difficulties that go along with that. Ive attended thousands of hours of college and further education while at the same time building a career. So ...

Okay - another day and so far, so good. I've been using the Nicorette Freshmint Spray. It does indeed give me a good, solid injection of nicotine, but for anyone that wants to try it, be forewarned that it's unpleasant at first and it takes some getting used to. BUT then again, so did smoking. (Remember getting dizzy and sick on those first few? This isn't anywhere like that) The trick is to spr...

    FEAR

I think the main reason for my making another atempt at quitting smoking has a lot to do with a fear of becoming very sick. I'm now in my forties and it's a time of life when things can start to really go wrong. I'm a volunteer fireman and I have noticed that I'm struggling to keep up with my mates in training and out on the job. It's a lot more labour intensive than it used to be and I'm also fe...

Hi all. Well - here goes. Ive been smoking since I was about 15 years old (I'm 44 now) and I have turned a serious corner and really dont want the darn things anymore. A freind said that when I quit smoking, I'm "not giving anything up, but instead, I'm gaining". So I dont say "I'm giving up smoking anymore".  However, as any smoker will admit, cigarettes are a part of my life. Quitting mea...
