    Slip ups

Posted in Staying quit 12 Aug 2017

Hi everyone, I haven't been on this site for a while, which is probably why I have had a slip up recently. My son has been suspended from school after a long period of good behaviour. This put me over the edge. In two weeks I have had 6 cigarettes, some of them only a few puffs. But three days ago I bought a packet, still couldn't smoke any until the end. Today, I found myself trying to esca...

    Full Boar

I'm learning a lot about myself. Its Day 31, and I've quit the same way I smoked - Full Boar, like a bull at a gate. I was the last of my friends to still smoke, as though I had committed to the lifestyle of a smoker back in the girls' dunnies in High School and I wasn't giving it up easily. Almost like quitting was denying my true inner smoking self. Having overcome all of that (I hope) ...

    23 Days

23 days. Went back to work last Friday, work was fine. I was so busy I don't think I even had a thought of going for a cigarette that needed fighting. However, walking to my car at the end of the day BAMMM, massive urge. I was caught by surprise too. To people who noticed me must have thought I was hyperventilating as I concentrated on deep long breaths. This was ridiculous, but by the time...

Hi, I've come this far, so far. It's a little like my body and mind has had a last ditch effort to hang on to nicotine crutch, as the last 2-3 days the cravings have been quite strong, almost stumping me, but really short lived. I decided to join a gym last week, a really nice one. Its a pleasure to be there. I had an appointment with a personal trainer, which comes with the joining fee. ...

    16 Days Later

Early days - I signed in this morning after 4 days of feeling a little unwell and learnt that it has been 16 days since I quit. This is starting to feel like an achievement. I know that five minutes without a smoke, or beating that next craving is also an achievement; but I am an overachiever by personality and I wanted to be quit for a year after the first day (I hope that makes sense) I ...

    400 tries to quit

Posted in Getting started 7 Jan 2017

I went to bed New Years Eve, after a shower and sheet change, planning to quit in the morning. I woke up, and my kids were asleep, I was bored and kicked myself but drove to the servo to buy a packet of smokes anyway. I wasn't confident that I was ready, anyway, is how I justified it to myself. No days of deliberations, no buying patches or cutting down only to feel deprived and smoke more. A f...
