Earlier this year, before surgery my anaesthetist approached me and said “Do you know it is much harder for me to keep you stable because you are a smoker”
I was really shocked and so ashamed.
Today filling out my anaesthesia forms I declared myself a non smoker!
I was so proud and relieved. Very empowering 😊
So I geared myself up to face my biggest temptation hurdle yesterday. I was nervous to see my smoker child and sit down for our chat, as this was always my ‘chain smoking’ relaxation time.
Needn’t have worried as I was totally fine and when offered a cig was very comfortable to say out aloud “No thanks I don’t smoke”
Three very empowering words I DONT SMOKE. 💪
Well here I am at 44days nicotine free!
I have the mindset now that I am a non smoker and that makes all the difference!

Reading everyone’s stories has prompted me to share mine..
I smoked on and off during the exciting ‘nineties’ at corporate functions/events as was the culture back then.
However, I could always just stop and it wasn’t a big deal.
Then when my own child became a teenager and began to smoke with all her friends, to fit in, so did I (so embarrassing for a middle aged woman) that’s how I started...
