i’m 17 years old and addicted. it’s so embarrassing and no one knows about it. i feel so ashamed of myself. today is my first day in a year where i have not had a smoke
I’ve been a drug addict many years ago… for me cigarettes are my last drug enjoyment. It’s not speed or smack or codeine.. I’m a massive drinker and that also needs addressing. I see a shrink weekly for childhood sexual abuse and violence. But it’s all up to me now. No excuses and no one is coming to save me. It’s all about choices and I want to make good choices for me now. This is my time!!
My reasons for quitting are definitely about health and relationships and mental health. I find my quoting for a few days really opens people up otherwise I find I get the cold shoulder quit alot and people listening to me will often go out the window. Maybe it's the smoking maybe it's something deeper I don't know but I do see improvement in my relationships when I manage without it only for a f...
Smoking makes my mental health worse. Also the money i spend just adds to stresses
I’ve been a full time smoker for a short portion of my life.
There are just so many things I would like to do but that involves money.
I have autism and often get use to a routine or habit.
If anyone on here has autism and has managed to give up smoking.
May I please have some advice please.
After having a heart attack it really was time to give up I haven't had a smoke since giving up. I am on patches and an inhaler.
I want to quit to improve my own health in general and the wellbeing of others around me.
Earlier this year, before surgery my anaesthetist approached me and said “Do you know it is much harder for me to keep you stable because you are a smoker”
I was really shocked and so ashamed.
Today filling out my anaesthesia forms I declared myself a non smoker!
I was so proud and relieved. Very empowering 😊
I’m Erin, I’m 41 from nsw. I started smoking when I was 15!

Hi all! I am wanting to join and write to the group to make me accountable this is my first time after numerous attempts. After smoking nearly 20 years did give up for 4 years to go through IVF which was successful thinking I would never smoke again. After a car accident have struggled ever since now that I’m 47 need to do this for me and my family. Not getting any younger😂 lost both parents to ...
I tried to quit so many times. Then I got squamous cell carcinoma on my pipeline. I thought it was a little blemish-no big deal. It took a couple of months before it was on my radar, and it was during the pandemic shutdown. It's been over a year now since I had the surgery of removing 1/4 my bottom lip, doing various topical therapies to stave off any recurrences. I'm not out of the woods yet.
Only recently had my first heart attack, 48 years old and a smoker for over 30 years, waited in hospital for the angiogram results only to find out that they could not stent it and needed a double bypass open heart surgery, this absolutely put the fear of god into me, at my age, no family history of heart attacks and several Drs have suggest to give up smoking over the years, i'm not ove...
I had a mild stroke 12 mobths ago and then covid happened, however as we approach the end of lockdown I realise there is still much more I would like to do in life. Both my children have now left home so now it is my time to shine.
My previous 3 attempt to quit failed.
But now I feel I will quit this time.
I have changed so much since quitting. It has been such a journey. This is the greatest feat I have ever achieved. And it wasn't on my own. The doctors really pushed it. And I was so lucky I listened to them. I am going to go farther than I ever have because I stopped this nasty habit. I'm thoroughly excited to start living again. And that is something. I've noticed so many things about my person...
Hi, I’ve been smoking for 13 years now and I’m just so nervous and scared about quitting. I’ve attempted many times and nothing. Would love to have some support so have come on here. I’ve got chimpax and gum I just feel like it’s been a part of my life since I was 17 it’s going to be really weird and hard.
I have to quit for my health as i have asthma and it is getting worse, i have also lost my job and can't afford it anymore, have to do it as covid has scarred me as well
After nearly 32 years of smoking. I can't do it anymore. It makes me feel like crap. I hate the smell, the taste and I do not want to be a slave to it anymore.
Taking the first steps today.
I had intense back pain for weeks resulting in a severe heart attack at age 51. I had 90% blocked artery and had a stent put in. I have no family history of heart issues, hence, it was likely due to lifestyle. I smoked 30+ cigarettes a day and drank alcohol every day. Specialist wasn't concerned about alcohol or diet. He said "I'm not concerned about how much nicoteine you need to support you g...
I’m certain COVID affects the immune compromised as well as smokers in general. As a smoker I am diverting the energy from my immune system to deal with every cigarette I inhale.
I just want to quit for family a d my own health. Being on a disability pension. It's hard and expensive. Plus I am sick of it.

Why waste money on something that’s not doing anything good for you or your family, it’s a horrible habit that we all need to beat

It is a better life overall without the temptations of cigarettes. One more thing that I do not need to worry about anymore. It's so much better for my health.
