beware spending time with a smoker

Posted in Staying quit

Stay alert. Since I quit about a year ago, I have not seen my brother much. So I was surprised when he pulled out a pack of cigarettes and offered me one last week. He is aware that I have stopped smoking, and I believe it was careless of him to smoke in front of me. I was greatly tempted to think, "I will just have the one." But I am proud of myself for refusing, and I will not be tempted like this again in the future. And for others on this trip, stay away from those who still smoke!

Good on you for your commitment to yourself.

Only you knows you best and what triggers might need to be avoided. I hope that someday being around smokers will not challenge you.

Not One Puff Ever (NOPE) it is even a risk after years and certainly not worth it!

I know what you mean about being around people who smoke. I have stopped smoking 479 days with one relapse and it was because my sister came to visit. I know she's my sister but for now I feel like I have to distance myself from her. It's for the best.

479 days—great stuff. I just noticed I'm 364 days. So 1 year tomorrow. Yeehah!
