50

today marks 50 days smoke free after 50 years.
I'm sure i will start to feel better soon :)

Well done man! 👍what’s been the good pints/bad points for you? I found it’s not like on the tv ads, you don’t feel like a race horse after 2 weeks of quitting and hey it’s slow progress and a feeling of ooh I don’t smoke it’s better just… keep going though mate 56 days habit broken….

thanks Mike! It's day 56 today almost to the minute, 8 weeks!! Good point 1....saved a lot of dosh, must be around a grand, smoking is very expensive in Australia! $32 a pack of 20 or 15gm tobacco. I usually smoked tailors as could not stand the taste of rollies.
Good point 2...i no longer reek of smoke.
Bad points, it's been 8 weeks and i still get powerful cravings but the worst is I have pretty much been sick for this whole 8 weeks with headaches, sore throat, mouth ulcers and the worst fatigue i have ever known!!
I have been very pleasantly surprised that ive stuck this out but i am in unchartered water here, i have never given up before and smoked for 50 years. I didn't think it would be easy, especially after 50 years! I wasnt thinking id just get off Scot free. I kinda imagined id be feeling good by now but im definitely not and i think it will be months more before i notice anything positive health wise

Congratulations on your commitment to live a healthier life. I am sorry that you feel fatigue and headaches. Even the sore throat and mouth ulcers are symptoms of stress as I have found. I am sending you this link in hope that you will try some stress relieving techniques to alleviate the symptoms. I hope you will continue to read our stories and adjust your way of thinking about cigarettes to stop the cause of your anxiety, the fear of quitting smoking, or the fear or failing to do so. I am quit 4 years later this week and am so happy to have done so after 40 plus years. You can quit smoking permanently too and find that wonderful freedom and so many benefits that will eventually come.
Please read the link I found on stress and how to manage it through exercise, meditation and other ways. I hope you feel better soon and can feel proud to have achieved your goal.
