I DID IT - 12 days down

Started experimenting with smoking at about 10 years old. Guess you can say I got hooked at maybe 13-14. I got caught smoking so many times that finally, at 16, my parents gave me permission to smoke in the house. Fast forward age 58 had my first CT of the lungs for cancer screening and well what did I expect the results to look like? Mild emphysema. I remember my grandfather struggling with emphysema, my aunt and then my dad. That put a stop to my addiction. I don't want to slowly suffocate and decided enough is enough. Forty+ years of smoking and diagnosed with mild emphysema? I say thank you Lord. Emphysema is incurable but I may be able to slow the progression by quitting. I don't know where my health will go from here but I know I won't be smoking any longer. I went cold turkey and it hasn't been easy but I am taking it a day at a time. When the urge comes I breath deeply and say a prayer because I know I can't do this on my own. Say a prayer for me and I will pray for each of you because this addiction is no joke and it is literally taking our breath away. Blessings to all.

You can do this Mesonice2. We all started out just like you and those who keep trying succeed. It is the belief in yourself and knowing it is possible that will keep you positive and achieve this goal. A forum made all the difference for me.
Congratulations on day 12 and keep posting as it will inspire others to victory as well. Read and learn. Learning replaces some of our dopamine, that hit of pleasure when we lit up. Replace a bad habit with a good one. Exercise also raises dopamine.
You can do this. Stay and stay positive.

Thanks Mesonice2 for your storey. I stopped for 14 days and then had some smokes I am on day three with no smokes it’s not easy but your storey really helped me. Good Luck on your journey.
