Keeping going
Almost one month done with one slip done also of one cigarette. I have learnt so much. I am still having cravings and sometimes they’re strong at other times weaker. But I am not having as many cravings as I was even a week ago. They are definitely still on the radar though. I am doing this cold turkey and that is my choice. I’m finding it all a little bit easier every day but some days are still tough. It will be all worth it though if I can keep on track with my commitment and determination to succeed. Thankyou very much to the people who commented on my post and I wish all success to everyone here. It is not an easy thing to do! I smoked for 35 years which is a very long time and I started when I was a teenager. It becomes such an ingrained habit and is so hard to break but if I can give it a go then I believe anyone can.
You are on the road to success my friend. Keep thinking positive! Things do get easier and you start to feel more "normal" after a period of adjustment.
Many of us, like you, smoked for decades and so the habit was deeply ingrained. We all used it as a precursor to do something and a reward when done (and during!) Reward yourself generously with all the money saved if you desire. We never felt guilty spending it on cigarettes after all. Rewards raise the dopamine, and that good feeling is what we miss. For me, it just felt good to know that whatever happened, I would not die a smoker! I felt jubilant that I was winning and confident that I could do almost anything else that I put my mind to.
We should all be proud to be here, looking to better ourselves and our futures. Congratulations to you and to all who have won their freedom from smoking. Well done!
Congratulation Cuba for almost a month! I knew you could do it! 35 years of addiction is a long time. Time is up,.. no more wasting time on such a useless habit/addiction. It seems to me you are doing excellent. Keep up the great work, stay glued to this site, read posts, write posts,.. stay with us. We are all behind you! You got this!!!!
