Wise Choices

Posted in Staying quit
schedule 26 Oct 2020

Looking at things in a new way can shed light on things we may have missed. There are times when you might think that you will never reach the goal but if you persist you will.

When we see gradual change, it is not like when someone sees us and says "Wow, you lost a lot of weight!" We don't notice the little things, but they are there and they do build up. When we accept the journey and have faith that we will succeed, we do.

I would never have believed that I could have lost 30 pounds in 8 months, a pound a week. Now I believe that should I continue for another year....because just like smoking...it does get easier. It becomes a better choice we strive for and BELIEVE we can accomplish. And it wasn't hard either when you think positive.

I made better choices ....I did not feel that I deprived myself. I tweeked a few things, made better choices and did not go hungry. I did not exercise much if at all most days except for my 1 or 2 mile daily walk . I am down to a medium as i was as a teenager.

I guess my point is that the change may be gradual but it is there. I hit plateaus where I couldn't lose a pound but then realized that i was burning fat and gaining muscle. The body also makes its own adjustments. When we know we have the power and the will to make changes we can. I can it mindset. Positive thinking.

Positive thinking also carries on through other aspects of your life. You have the confidence to try something new or set goals. So I am putting my money where my mouth is and while you all quit smoking, I vow to lose another 5 pounds by the new year.

Quitting smoking is done once you make up your mind. Losing the weight and keeping it off will be ongoing. Accepting both as a choice, and a preferred choice we make makes it a change of lifestyle. Neither needs to be difficult. We have the power and support to do it. Forums may even help to keep us accountable .
