schedule 17 Aug 2020

Hi my name is Jess I have been smoking for nearly 40 years. I have tried to give up many times so its fair to say i am hanging on to never quit trying to quit. In the past 20 days I have had 19 days smoke free. I had a slip up yesterday but went to bed last night with my mind set on continuing a smoke free life today. I surrendered to talking to someone at icanquit to ask for there advise to what I should do next. I am also reaching out on this platform in hope that sharing honestly where im at it will help me stay on the smoke free road. All the best to you all Jess

Hi Jess, good job so far, making 19 days smoke free.. you see you are able to quit, you naybe miss strong reason whg to do that.. When I quit, I slip up also, smoke for 1 day and then went back to smoke free life which last more then 90 days right now.. what works for me was that I bought ciggie brand which I don't like so I didn't enjoy it.. be clear why you want to quit.. and be selfish as possible with reason/s such as I want have more time for sxcercise, watch movies or read books, be helthier to be able to go treking, have much energy to do more in work and try to be promoted, have much quality spend time with wife in badroom, whatever which will work for you to do not want to smoke even one ciggie anymore.. good luck to you.. :)

Thank you maitik-one for your encouragement and great tips eg my reasons for quitting and to put myself first while doing it.

Good for you for picking yourself up and continuing on. We can quit smoking when the desire to quit is stronger than of that to smoke. So many benefits to be had. Read and learn. You can do this too.

Lesson learnt

A slip doesn't have to be a relapse. I am on day 21 on remaining a non smoker. On day 19 I thought I could do this with my will power alone and for the second day running I did not put a patch on even though deep down I was screaming out for one. Consequence for not listening to my inner voice was I had 5-7 cigarettes. That afternoon on day 19 I put a patch on and on day 20 I didn't pick up a smoke. Receiving replies on this platform has helped me immensely as I feel the encouragement and support so thank you everyone. Here I am at day 21 with 20 of those days being smoke free. Well wishes and best of luck to you all.

Hi Jess. You might be like me?

I just ran out of EXCUSES to smoke!

Well over $5,000 not wasted on them.

And that's only half a years of it!

Its time to give'em the flick.

I did.

If I can, anyone can.

schedule 19 Aug 2020

Day 22 and so grateful I seen day 19 as a slip and not a relapse. My breakfast use to be coffee and cigarettes,I am now enjoying cereal toast and a cup of tea. Love and Light to all our lungs

schedule 20 Aug 2020

Day 23. I had to go to an appointment this morning which can activate my anxiety and today it did. My head kept saying a coffee and a cigarette would be so relaxing however the agony I went through after my slip on day 19 also kept popping into my head so I made a cup of herbal tea and jumped on here instead. I think I might do a meditation after my cuppa. I find this platform so helpful, just being able to articulate for myself what is going on helps me find solutions to what is the next helpful thing I can do for myself. Have a magical day everyone

schedule 21 Aug 2020

Day 24 I have notice my agitation when I am in situations where I am not in control of every aspect I want reach for a cigarette. I have to remind my self this will pass and all will go the way it will go, I can either pick up a ciggie and be smoking or practice my breathing and do something else and remain a non smoker. Smoker-non smoker? too easy this time im a non smoker
