Vaping Saved my Life

My name is Andrew.
I have 4 children and smoked over a packet a day for 32 years
I tried every way to quit including Champix, patches and sprays.
The only thing that has stopped me smoking for 18 mths now is Vaping. The Royal College of Physicians in the UK 100% endorses vaping and it is now in 2 UK hospitals to assist patients who wish to quick.
The easiest, safest and best thing I have done is Vaping.

Vaping has become a medical crisis in UK and US. It is really just as bad as smoking. Allen Carr's Easyway to Quit smoking book is incredible. I read it on Sunday, it took me 4 hours, it is now Tuesday and I still haven't smoked. The only thing going on at the moment is my body's withdrawals from nicotine which aren't so bad. I don't even want a cigarrette. I have been smoking a packet a day for 5 years.

Thank you! We are all succeeding in our own way. I am hoping for every one here to succeed in their journey whatever was is helping them :D

Well done TJD97. Different options work for different people.
I have read the book twice but with no success.
Nicotine Vaping is not actually the issue it is Illicit THC (drug) cartridges.
The CDC and FDA in the US have now confirmed that and there is no other crisis in any other country than the US.
Good luck with your journey.

Hey Andrew! I would say congratulations on what is obviously a very significant change. Although I'm certainly not qualified to talk on the dangers of smoking vs. the dangers of vaping, I would suggest that you consider seeing the vape as more of a temporary solution. You had the capabilities to switch to the vape. Now that your body and mind have adjusted to that change, perhaps it is time to move to a further change of removing the vape.
Personally, I used a vape for one quit attempt and after about a month of heavy use, my lungs felt worse than they did when I was smoking. Not to say that vaping is worse than smoking; but it is still hot, humid air containing chemicals going into the lungs, which we were not designed for.
Just something to think about :)

Hi TryingTK,
Appreciate you say and if you look into the facts and safety of vaping it is very interesting.
50million people vape worldwide and it is confirmed to be 95% safer than smoking as no harmful chemicals.
It is not for everyone and yes hopefully the idea is to stop completely from everything.
The right devices and advise for vaping can also make the experience very different and possibly enjoyable.
I wish everyone all the success to quit no matter what the cessation option is.

Have you thought about attending one of the clinics Allen has? Praying that your journey no matter what way you do it, leads to the cessation of smoking!

Hi AndrewCam. Thanks for posting and I have to ask that if you are happy vaping, what brings you to iCanQuit?
While almost nothing is worse than cigarette smoking, I would want to be very sure of what I was using as a substitution. I am glad that you feel it is a move in the right direction and I hope it is for those who should choose to go that route. I understand however that more nicotine is ingested in a shorter amount of time and that can't be good for blood pressure . Vaping doesn't give the same satisfaction that smoking a cigarette did so many people switch back. Just hope the manufacturers don't start adding chemicals and poisons like cyanide to boost the dopamine affect.
While stepping down to a non-nicotine vape as a quit smoking aid may be a short term measure, I really don't encourage switching one bad habit for another. This support group is awesome if you would consider giving the real thing a try. We believe that anyone can quit smoking with the right attitude and mindset.

Thank you for your opinion Happiness.
I like to look at facts and proof regarding vaping.
All I am saying is if tens of millions of people have quit smoking by vaping and many countries, including UK, Canada, New Zealand and most of Europe endorse this method as a much safer and healthier alternative...then why not give it a try...its the ONLY thing that stopped me from smoking...Thank God
What do they say. Horses for courses.....
Vaping is not a bad habit its a cessation option!!!!
Good luck to all in whatever option they choose.

Oh and...I am here Happiness as the site asks for our own success story of how we quit.
Vaping is my story...
Thanks

But you feel that you have quit smoking so why are you here at all? It is a quit smoking site and you do not regard vaping as smoking, and since you are not going through withdrawal or changing habits, what purpose does this site provide for you?
"Vaping has become a medical crisis in UK and US. It is really just as bad as smoking."
This just isn't true. Illicit vape products created as a result of the black market have caused issues. But in countries like the UK they are seeing smoking rates drop drastically and their public health departments credit vaping with helping achieve this. It's a net health win.

But it is still inhaling alien substances into our bodies. And I ask yet again.....why are you all on this site if you don't need councelling?

So as I understand it, a few of you here have been in the background , reading our posts and not one of you gave any support to members, but feel the need to come forward in support OF each other in your belief in vaping. You all seem to be quit smoking for sometime, and as you are neither in withdrawAl or changing habits in any dramatic way in which psychological help is needed,......WHY ARE YOU HERE AT ALL?

Happiness...and yes its 95% healthier than smoking and I think anybody is able to be on this site to share their story??? My story and success is also valid is it not..going around in circles doesn't gain anything,
Respecting your OPINION
Andrew

I actually have given support that you have just simply made something else it is not.
Simply Happiness it is my success story and I have every right to share it to others to help in their journey.
Your incorrect and skewed opinion is counter-productive and unsure why my story has upset you so much.
Stay focused on your journey and I will stay focused on mine.

You don't regard vaping as smoking, yet you keep insisting you are smoke free for 18 months. You have not said you are nicotine free nor have you said you used it as a tempory aid in stepping off of nicotine. I would therefore assume you still vape. Forgive me if I am wary of those who cannot be candid from the start and then within minutes has his own fan club. All Happy vapers in no need of this site. All landing here at once and telling the same stories. All claiming to wish us well. Yet not one comment to encourage anyone. You don't care about the people here. If you really cared you would stop confusing them and causing them more pain. They chose their method of quit. I do not dictate to them. What i do is support their decisions as best as i can. But i won't sit by and let them harm themselves with unwise decisions. Do you really think i would let you take advantage of their vulnerability? Others won't either, You may have the right to post but you will be viewed as the enemy here for the most part. The ones who really want to quit smoking will do just that quit all forms of smoking. With that choice they will truly be free. Vaping does not teach them how to do that.

You only promote your method and that is scary but also extremely negligent and naive.
Ever person should be properly informed about all possible options not just the one you want.
I am on here to HELP people with another option and find your abuse and ridicule offensive and uncalled for.
You and the site totally contradict each other and you actually don't even know what you are talking about.
Narrow mindedness and misinformation is dangerous and you could actually be killing people.
Learn the truth about vaping before you comment on it.
You actually sound like you may be getting a nice kick back from the promotion of Allen Carr's book or why would you advocate it so much.
I have said enough and worry deeply about your narrow and un-educated opinion on vaping...a method that is proven to work all over the world.
You only seem to have a problem with it Happiness.
Vaping is not smoking, its moisture...educate yourself on the matter to be more informed to actually comment on it.
Common how much do your really get from each sale of the book...

What i get off on is helping people. People come here to get off of nicotine, not just quit smoking. If they chose to vape they would be vaping. The chose to be totally free of an addiction and its habit that has become so ingrained that it rules their lives. The mindset, along with whichever method chosen (even vaping if intended for that purpose for a short time) is what we try to encourage people to embrace. The understanding of nicotine, how you became addicted to it and how it controlled you gives the truth in which to reassess your feelings about smoking. I don't expect you to understand, if you did you would see why we feel like this bombardment of vapers imay be counter productive to some . This is a community where we care and support those wanting to be free of addiction. Please respect that.
