Hi people just checking in to offer my support to newbies and ongoing quitters. I been quit 3and1/2 years now and absolutely thrilled that i quit. Thank God i breathe better and able to walk up hills not like before i quit. To add to this cigarettes in my part of the world are heavily taxed e.g. 50 gms tobacco now $95. Absolutely disgraceful and i could never afford to pay such a price. I feel that this cost however is a blessing in disguise for me cause i would never pay such a price and is definitely a deterrent to smoking. If some people have more money than brains then so be it. My main reason for my visit today however is to let quitters know that if you refrain from smoking it does get much easier in time and your hard work will reap high benefits that you will be proud of. I smoked for 53yrs and yes it was hard at the start but perserverance has made me so proud now. So, stay strong and be in your mindset to counter act cravings. Cheers.

Great advice and thoughts Johnnie. Isn't it great that the rewards are simultaneously given when we quit smoking? Our blood pressure drops immediately, we will smell better to others, we won't have to feel like an outcast in the middle of a storm. Would saving that money alone be enough?.....

I read somewhere that we only smoke what we can afford. We started taking other measures to afford our addiction such as smoking closes to the stub, increasing the strength of tar and nicotine, inhaling deeper, and switching to cheaper brands. Since prices on cigarettes have soared even faster in the past few years we can only hope that the young will stay clear of such an expensive time waster. It seems foolish for them to e-vape instead.... but they are young, as we once were.

I am so thankful that there are sites such as iCanQuit that can give encouragement and support to those who finally realize that they do have a choice. Willpower alone doesn't quite do it. The mindset is a powerful state of knowing. Love is blind. We can forgive and/or overlook the faults in our loved ones, but why cling to a one sided relationship? Nicotine is a drug that is delivered by the cigarette to relieve its own need of replenishment. Once understanding this basic fact , with support , we can break the cycle.

Have another smoke free day everyone. The rewards are yours to reap!

Hi Johnnie. I like your post. There was a time when I had more money than brains. Mind you, I don't know what I was thinking. After the smoke fog started lifting 1625 days ago & $35250 ago I started to see more clearly. I had ditched my once "best friend". It is so good to be FREE.
