This is about my 10th attempt to quit, i am on day 4 and so far i am feeling okay just seem to have more of an appetite. Hang in there if i can quit anyone can. I have an operation coming up and i want to quit to have it done

schedule 12 Aug 2019

I am sorry to hear about your needing an operation Jenp52, but sometimes that is what it takes to motivate us into making this amazing journey. It is unfortunate when we have to be forced or scared into a quit when we have known for decades that we should find a way to. Good news is that there is so much information on the internet and support groups like iCanQuit to offer knowledge and support.

Accepting the journey and truly embracing the new and better version of you is what is most difficult. Change is hard for us and we like our comfortable , familiar surroundings and routine. Look at the positive aspects and at the same time realize just how nicotine has manipulated your life for years. It is definitely time to find the determination and make the effort to bring a wonderful change to your life. You will not regret it.

Save money, get better and enjoy the true freedom that you have since forgotten. You are doing great and if you have gone cold turkey, the nicotine is ngeligible in your system. The psychological cravings disappear once you embrace the new yoiu.

It's day 5 off the nicotine for me, I actually went from smoking to vaping 2 years ago (it's legal in England) and quit the vape on the 7th. Its as hard as stopping smoking cold turkey! But i am beginning to feel better, I can feel some pleasure again so hang in there each day is better. There's a little bit of quit fatigue setting in and I think, just one vape... got to say no, it won't be one. Well done on 4 days and hamg in there, keep going and don't let your guard down prematurely.

Good advice given to you jenp52. It does seem as Happiness says your motivation is through medical advise. It is good you are taking the advice seriously and day 4 is great too, congratulations. Great to see maxwell and penny dropping in to talk to you.

You are way ahead in your strategies because of your previous attempts, but now might be the time too really look at whats behind all of this while you are on your path and waiting for your operation.

Hi. I'm day 170 with a couple of blips. Did it with Champix and resolve. and having a plan for the money I'm saving. I was the heaviest smoker I knew with a history of being weak and giving in. So I did the one thing I was talking about for years and found a reputable hypnotherapist to give me some back up. HE IS AWESOME and just past Morrisett. If you want his details let me know

It sounds like you found something that really works for you dulcify. I don't think it matters what you believe in to get the job done, as long as you believe it can be done! Congrats on 170 days of savings to smile about. :)

It is amazing that you have been here since 2016 with only one story after 2 years and few if any comments before this one. I am glad that you decided to share, and so very encouraging to know that there must be others like you in the dark wings. We tend to presume that some comment and then just fall off the wagon so to speak. It is great news to know that that is not always the case. People like their privacy and we understand, but your comments and support are of value if you would please do so. Hoping to hear from some more of the silent successful and congrats!

I quit the day I went into the hospital for my surgery. Instead of only 5 days, I ended up having to stay in the hospital 9 days. I didn't start again once I got out. It wasn't worth having to start over.
