Posted in Staying quit

schedule 10 Apr 2019

Changed my morning routine in which I find the hardest. Instead of waking up having a cuppa and cig first thing which I used to do. Today I jumped in the shower stuck a patch on quick mist spray had a healthy smoorhie & went out for a brisk walk with the dog.

Feeling ENERGIZED.

Tomorrow I'm back in work any advice I would be grateful majority are smokers.

You are on the right track Joyus. Changing our behaviour and Minds about smoking is what its about to stay free regardless of the method to quit. Only you know if you feel strong enough to be around your co-workers who smoke. You are doing a hard thing and need your friends, not feel that you are missing out on anything. Perhaps take the time to make friends or get to know other people at work for a few days and then decide.

Bottom line...keep the positive outlook. You are not "giving up " anything. You are making positive life changes . Anyone can quit smoking even after decades as some are proof to. The freedom from smoking, satisfaction, pride and inner peace are the priceless rewards.

Joyus you know that smoking is not your thing anymore. I presume your coworkers who smoke aren’t mentally at the same place you are. Thus, probably when they find out you quit some of them will support you, most others won’t care and maybe one or two will, consciously or subconsciously, will try to derail you. If you encounter someone like that you know that he/she isn’t your friend, so stay away from them. Funnily, when someone tried to derail me I would always tell them that I know my weakness and that is that I have smoking addiction but knowing my weakness is what makes me strong cause I know that I am not going back to smoking. But as I said already most of the people will be respectful and in my case when I told a coworker that I quit over a year and a half ago he replied that he didn’t even notice. LOL. Good luck. You know what’s best for you.
