first week

Posted in Staying quit
schedule 13 Jan 2019

Today I celebrate 1 week with out one cig. I am confident that I will stay on tract at least today. Still paying my dues like everyone else here but I am strong and I can do this. Think the fear of disappoint if I had one cig is the biggest driver for me.

schedule 13 Jan 2019

Debbie, can't agree more with Robn. Be proud of what you have achieved so far. Take a day at a time and you will be over the worst of it before you know it. You will be surprised how quickly the first month flies when you look back in hindsight and then you will be looking to the three month mark and a lifetime of being a non-smoker. Keep it up.

Hi Debbie317, congratulations on a job well done so far. Speaking from personal experience one cig will lead nowhere good, and self disappointment is exactly how it will make you feel. You've got this Debbie so stay strong and keep your eyes firmly on the prize. Just keep going and getting through one day at a time😊

Thanks ya'll for the encouragement and compassion! tytytytytytytytytyt

Dear Debbie,

Fantastic 33% milestone covered. Stay cool for 2 to 3 weeks more and you will see how easy is to stay healthy without nicotine.

Remember don't push urself tooooo hard ... Try to observe urself assuming you are watching urself as a third person when the craving come and eventually realize them fading away.

Keep sharing.

Stay strong for weeks to come.

Good going Debbie. I can't get over how enthusiastically you took this journey on right from the start cold turkey! But that's not quite true is it? You took the time to read the posts and learn all you could. You invested the time to give yourself the very best chance of success. You did this by using the Smart Turkey method. I have no doubt that you will finish this journey in short order and never look back.

Just remember that just one puff can send you back to square one, as all the nicotine is out of your system now. The little urges you get now are just the dying pleas from the nictine monster to feed him or he will die. Ignore him and he will stop bothering you. Smile, and just tell him that you are a Happy Non-Smoker Now.

schedule 13 Jan 2019

Happiness not sure if cold turkey or smart turkey..I just look at quitting as a bad break up or divorce..gonna miss them for awhile..but 6 months down the road you wake up and realize you didn't think about them as much anymore..years down the road you can't even remember there name..not investing in the bad relationship anymore..I am taking one day at a time..gonna hit some tough days nights but i gonna make it..and I hope I help someone else that maybe need help or just someone to talk to like many of yall have done for me. :)

schedule 13 Jan 2019

Yes Debbie317. Not investing in that expensive relationship is still my number one reason I've quit. The stupid habit was costing me $35 everyday at 30 cigs a day. I did feel stupid. Infact, I have heard that smoking is stupid (red or safe)

I've been quit for as long as you guys and I;m not getting back on the $merry$go$round

schedule 14 Jan 2019

I do love the analogy of a Divorce, because it is just a Break up of a relationship that no longer works.

The relationship with the cigarette is kind of the same. Divorce is final and we move on and accept the changes, whereas a Separation is still indicative of hoping to resume the relationship at some point.

We are all here to Divorce the cigarette. It will be final and so we accept that fact and look forward to new life experiences and positive change.

Hi Debbie. You made reference to drinking sodas, and coffee keeping you up. I have found advice to drink more water ahttps://www.math.utah.edu/~yplee/fun/caffeine.html and cut caffeine by

half.

Soda also has caffeine...which i have given the link to.

schedule 29 Jan 2019

good on you deb put the money away that you are not spending on smokes this will be hard but just think. instead of it being wasted you will have a lot of money then give yourself a treat to celebrate

also shows you how much you have been spending on cigs and that will make you even more determined to not to go back to it
