It has been a while since I have been here but each time I login and read the stories it reminds me of the struggles I had and we all have and how fantastic this website is for helping and encouraging each other.

So it has been 9 months for me now. My breathing is so so much better. There has been a fair bit of stress but I guess everyone has that at intervals in their lives. I am just grateful I have managed to stay quit.

Probably the one thing creeping up and really starting to annoy me now is that I have put on about 5 or 6 kgs and can't seem to get rid of it. I accept it may be just a winter coat but I have never been this heavy in my life! Is there anyone out there who have put on weight and then plateaued out and managed to loose it after time and if so how long after you stopped smoking did you get back to normal again??

Hello puffer, I'm with you this website is awesome for inspiration I usually read on here daily I find it inspires me to stay strong. Thank you for sharing your success, you are doing an amazing job at staying quit. If it has been 9 months you may need to do some light exercise to help shave off those unwanted kgs, at least you're a healthier you😊

This is something I think is inevitable for me! I struggle with my weight because there are so many delicious foods out there and with giving up the fags I'm also just giving myself the room to eat whatever I want, it's better than giving in to a cigarette craving! Last year I lost a couple of stone doing Weightwatchers so my plan when I'm a bit further in to my quit journey (I'm only on day 8 at the moment) is to crack back on with WW and hope that I can then be skinny and smoke free!

I have put on 14 lbs. I'm on day 96 and I find myself wanting to eat a lot more than when I was smoking. I have to say at this point in the game weight and diet ate the toughest struggle for me.

Hey guys. Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. We all benefit from not smoking. I am not overly concerned about the weight gain. I have been doing a little bit more exercise to offset but probably not enough ha ha.

I think if I can give up smoking I can do anything!!!!! So the next thing will be to focus on loosing the weight.........not sure when ........though.....there is probably another website for that ha ha.
