MY WIFE CAVED...I HAVEN'T

I'm coming up on 12 weeks quit...after 40 years at about a pack a day. My quit was way easier than I thought it would be. I had my last cigarette Friday at midnight. I was in the dental surgeon's chair on Monday morning. So I had already been smoke free for two days...then I had the surgery I had to quit for...and for the next week I was on fairly decent painkillers. I NEVER FELT ANY SMOKING WITHDRAWAL like I did on other quits. My wife quit with me. She lasted about 2 weeks. Some bs about weight gain. I LOST weight...because I knew how easy it was to gain so I ramped up my exercise by triple. Early on I used non-nic vape sticks with a coffee or walking the dog and it was okay. I barely touch them now.

The odd time I still think I might want one...I remember how much smokers at work stink, how free I am from the bonds of nicotine, how much money I'm saving...and what a tremendous lift it is to my self esteem that I put the cancer killers down.

I don't want to be cocky...but I'm pretty sure...at 57...I'll never smoke again.

It's not what I'm giving up...it's all about what I've gained...including some self respect. Thinking about quitting was way harder than actually quitting.

Thanks Steve. I guess it's up to us to show them how to do it. The thing is...you have to want the fu@k out of it.
