I think I can, I think I can ...

Posted in Staying quit
schedule 31 Jan 2018

It's day 46 for me, and I must say I'd hoped I wouldn't still want a cigarette as often as I do. I used Champix but finished them five days ago. I am determined to not have even one puff, but I was hoping the urge would be less and less nearly seven weeks later. Of course the urge does come less often, but it's still there! When does it end?!

schedule 3 Feb 2018

Well I'm told by others who have quit longer than me that it never goes away. Some even say they'd go back to smoking in an instant if their will stopped them giving way because they really liked it. Hmmm. Not for me. I keep reminding myself of how much I didn't like it even tho' I couldn't stop.

schedule 4 Feb 2018

You're so lucky, Moonbeam. The only thing that keeps me on the straight and narrow is knowing how far I've come and having even one puff would wipe out 50 days of hard work. I will not cave! You are right though, as is Red-67 (and I can't thank you both enough for bothering to respond - having someone to download to is SO affirming) that it's a mind thing: I gave up because I couldn't walk up hills without nearly clapping myself out, and also because I really was not enjoying cigarettes, and they were killing me. But is it just me or does every book, every TV show, every movie have the hero/good guy taking long drags of a cigarette when things get tense! LOL.
