Get immersed in activites that distract you from your usual smoking times

I'm on day 12 of Champix. I stopped smoking on day 5. Amazing results already. I'm breathing easier and not wheezing when I go to bed. I have odd dreams. I dreamt one night away trying to remember where I had parked my car in a shopping centre car park 600 km away. I knew it was locked in my garage. Strange.
I liked a smoke after a cup of tea at breakfast time or rewarding myself after finishing a job in the garden. Now I get started on something straight away and soon forget the urge. I've forgotten the taste and buzz already.
I'm a bit scared to go and have a beer with my mates right now because I think I could be persuaded to default. So being off the alcohol as well has a double whammy effect. I figure I'm also $150 up so far from not smoking as well. My tip - enjoy the fun of beating yourself. Get in the garden. Make something for your kids/grandkids. Go to the gym. Have a coffee with a friend who hates smoking. See how long it takes them to find out you quit. I've smoked for 50 years. This decision is going to astonish my friends, who see me as a 'smoking lifer'

Thats exactly my fear too! Having alcohol! The weekend is coming up and I'm scared my cravings will start.
Red-67 --thank you for the advice for getting it over with! I will not be as terrified as wine o'clock rolls around tomorrow haha

I love your expression: "Enjoy the fun of beating yourself".. Its a fact that not doing something can be a great experience.. Thats the optimism need to stay on track... dont give up...
The alcohol- well both ways are possible: You can face the dragoon very soon, or you can wait until your cravings are less and then try. Me, I think it is good to avoid the greatest pitfalls. So a buddy drinking night with as smoker might not be the best idea.. But a simple beer in the pub-why not..
Whatever you decide good luck with it..

I’m Day 28 I think .. champix has been aweful. I’m soooo angry and fly off the handle and I’m awec I seriously don’t know what is wrong with me x how r u going ?

That's fantastic! I gave up alcohol 6 days ago and plan to give the smoking a miss as of Dec 1. Your advice is wonderful - thanks!

Well. Here I am. Champix finished. Have had little craving moments.
I think about how I feel now and how I felt when smoking and it passes quickly. It's been a month. So far so good.
The yuk bit - I notice the pillow case is not tinged brown anymore and I'm noticing more smells. The sweetpeas are great. I think I'll go and sit in a paddock now. LOL. Oh yeah - it's safe having a beer. It still tastes good.
