Day 650 & $13520 saved from the astray...

Let's think about that! That amounts to a pay rise of approximately $7000 pa. Can anyone really believe they can convince the boss to match that? Or is a rise of $150 pa or slightly less or marginally greater more to your liking... Who are you working for? Do you work for the bank cos you have a mortgage? Do you also inadvertently work for a tobacco company? The latter, you are burning a truckload of money! Let me know what you think!

Well done Lia. A great landmark. I didn't dwell too much on the cost when smoking but it was always there hovering around. You have been a fantastic help to me and others and your posts are always full of wisdom and hope. Keep posting.

Well done, Lia, the amount of $$$$ we have burnt up over the years is very staggering, but somehow we have always found the $$$$ to purchase the "false friends".
Now I enjoy to the fact I have stashed away $9120.00 from 76 weeks of no smoking, this is 2015 prices..since I have quit there has been a couple of price hikes, but if this the incentive to keep me on the "No Smoking" road, I will keep at it and keep giving myself a pay rise every week.
Thank you for sharing your journey.

The money saved is a huge incentive to continue as a non-smoker. I resent the government collecting a good portion of the cost of a packet of smokes in tax and then telling us all we should quit and we're a drain on the health system. Addicts of illegal drugs seem to get more assistance than addicts of nicotine do. I'm fortunate that I'm a healthy (nearly) 64 year old, always worked, always paid taxes, private health insurance and the medicare levy, a truckload of extra taxes on each and every packet of cigarettes for many years....so I've more than paid my dues if I'm ever hospitalised due to my smoking. When the time comes that nobody smokes anymore, where will those lost taxes come from??
