Well, I'm not one to lecture and never have been. I can only share my experiences as with others. It's a hard road we travel and it's a terrible addiction. I had to treat it the same way as with alcohol and I have to admit also my health as I'm no youngster. I smoked for almost 62yrs. and it really messed up my health. Lucky so far, no cancer but the breathing is still hard so I decided 11 months and 26 days ago (who's counting) lol, to quit. I do it one day at a time. It's not easy by any means, as there are still times when i feel as if I could so anything for a cigarette but then I just remind myself do I want to go back to that terrible trouble of not being able to catch my breath (emphysema), smelling like I don't know what!! No way, so I just say for today, I'll not have a cigarette and I'll be so much better for it and so will the people around me. My home won't stink of cigarettes nor my clothes. At times when it really gets bad and believe me it does, I even say a prayer and for me that works. I want to live each day one day at a time. I sometimes really have to work at it, but heck, life wasn't meant to be easy and I'll chew a piece of gum (nicorette) and it will pass (the craving). So just hang in there one day at a time and it will get better. It works it really does but you have to work at it. Take care everyone and stay safe and just don't have that cigarette.

Hi Jarhead....i agree totally with your comments. At our age why live our lives under sufferance? I smoked for 52 yrs started at 16 and a slight development of copd was enough for me to say "the fun is over" Keep posting and all the best. Cheers.
