4 year's later
Its 4 years ago since I have smoked.$28900.00 according to the I can quit calculator, that was at the 4 years ago price per packet so its probably closer to $40,000. I smoked for 37 years ,my health had deteriorated, my friends said i looked grey , I was overweight, i was totally unfit, couldn't walk 500 metres without running out of breath. After major abdominal surgery I started to walk and swim as part of my recovery. I gave up smoking the day of the operation. In the past four years I have lost 20 kilo's , become much fitter, I now walk 10 km's daily . I enjoy cooking and eating great food now that I can taste again. I go on holidays, concerts and shows on a regular basis with my new partner, who actually loves me. I work much more efficiently than I used too . I enjoy waking up and not being controlled by cigarettes and trying to find somewhere to smoke them . I love flying now I'm not on edge waiting for the damn thing to land. We tell ourselves we need a smoke to calm our nerves . that must be the biggest falicy ever. Giving up cigarettes is the greatest thing you will ever do for your family ,friends and most importantly yourself . Reclaim YOUR life now.

Great story cough cough. Shows how our life can completely change after quitting. 4 years is a fantastic milestone. Please stay with us more frequently. The odd post can be so inspiring.

Hi Cough Cough. Good to see someone of your status returning to give us a reminder that the long road is still a possibility. 525 days today and nearly $11000 saved from the ashtray, not to mention all the other benefits. Yes, me too, noticed that flying long haul as not a problem except for the fact that I cannot do contortions and enjoy economy class. But such a bonus, not having to seek out the smokers booth at airports. So much more enjoyable doing duty free retail therapy. And noticed that if there was a stressful situation that a nicotine fix would only delay the inevitable as once the cigarette was gone, the problem still reared its ugly head. Funny, that...Hmmm. You said it. Giving up allows one to reclaim ones life.

What an awesome and inspiring person you are, thank-you for sharing your story, it helps so much 😊
