I am very disappointed in the I Can Quit programme. I was under the impression from advertising that this was a support group for people serious about quitting smoking! LOL! I 'joined' over 3 weeks ago and today I received my pat on the back for being smoke free on DAY ONE - that's not even funny. Only good tip I received from this site was that I could have the patches on PBS by asking the GP for a prescription at a much much reduced price. If the Government was serious about people's health and stopping the cigarettes why aren't they advertising that this script is available? Simple, $$$ they do not want to lose the cigarette industry taxes, not impressed with I Can Quit or the government's lip service to the populations' health. Be strong alone and get the PBS scripts and stick with them but remove them well before going to bed about 2 hours for some reason the script ones give me insomnia in a big way but removing them earlier makes it a little easier to sleep.

Babi, it sounds as if you expected someone to quit for you. I am sorry to say that it isn't done that way. Today is 10/28/2016. If you are still not smoking, you have gone 6 days as a non-smoker and that is an accomplishment. You must view quitting as a war against nicotine. This war has many battles Bibi. The most important battle for you to win is always the next battle. Don't give up, simply adjust your expectations. YOU CAN do this . . . honest you can.

Hi Babi, i find if you use lozenges it is a far better type of nrt. As you are in my area you can pick them up at chemist wharehouse for around $25 pack od 4 containers 4mg containg a total of 80 tablets. Split each lozenge in 4 bits and use each one quarter when you have an urge. Far cheaper than buying smokes and work better i find than patches . Items subsidided on the pbs do not always work. Good Luck.

Hi Babi. I cannot believe what you say.

"I am very disappointed in the I Can Quit programme. I was under the impression from advertising that this was a support group for people serious about quitting smoking!"

Having survived 519 days cold turkey and been supported all the way, I cannot believe your claim. Just post more often and look forward to giving and getting from those in this community.

I'm with you Babi

I actually went and seen my doctor, and told her I was nrt and found out that I can get a script for it days after that. Oh dear. Yeah it's rough. You can get call backs and checkins if you want through icanquit nsw. Hope that helps if you need to have access to that extra support, I rang the number in the pack too.

Keep going dude!! Getting up after falling down is called courage :)
