Its worth trying and trying

I just logged in again and discovered I am 863 days smoke free and $21,500 better off!! I'm not in any way inclined to even touch a cigarette, let alone smoke one. My health is much, much better as is my self esteem. I have a number of good friends who smoke and whilst I am not in any way a "reformed smoker" I really do feel sorry for them - constantly rolling smokes, constantly coughing and constantly saying they wish they could stop smoking. I say nothing because for so many years I was the same - wishing I could stop. I was fortunate enough to be able to change my mindset from "wishing I could stop" to "I have to stop" and it worked - with the aid of champix. I think nicotine addiction is mainly a mental issue and that's what I was fortunate enough to change - allbeit after 45 years of smoking and numerous quit attempts. I am "living" proof that it can be done and I recommend it to everyone. I wish everyone success in your quit journey.

Hi Pebro. Great story and thanks for stopping by to share it. Have so much in common with you. I went 53 years before I quit and am now 415 days away.
Like you some of my friends and family still smoke and I feel for them.
I recently attended a wedding reception and faced an army of smokers by the entrance door. It wasn't too long ago that I would have done the same.
The last couple of years of my smoking I felt like a social nuisance and remember people commenting on the smell.
Like you I was fortunate enough to really want to quit and am now really reaping the benefits. Thanks again for your story

Thanks for returning and posting. You are about a year ahead of me. Looking at your savings, you must have been a serious smoker. Congratulations on beating the addiction. I hope your bank account reflects this windfall. What a fantastic payrise. Your post is an inspiration. May we all continue to follow in your footsteps.
