Day 32! Staying strong

I have made it over the one month hurdle which feels really amazing. The cravings are still there but much less. The hardest trigger for me is still stress but i have been trying to channel the energy into other places, like cleaning or painting to calm down. I've also been drinking massive quantities of tea. In 9 years of smoking i have tried to quit many, many times, but i've never made it this far. It feels really amazing. Next week will be another type of test, I've been mostly living a solitary life in the country this last month but i am about to spend a week traveling in a few big cities where i will probably be around a lot of smokers. Wish me luck.
I feel much healthier and i love that i don't smell of tobacco anymore. I can also reach higher notes when i sing! I really, really hope i can stay committed and stay quit for the rest of my life.

Hi penelopen,
I'm day 54 today and what keeps me strong is the very fact that I never want to experience this ever again!!! I never want to go through day 1 ever again, nor day 2, nor day 3.... etc.
I too live in the country and I love the smells of the fresh country air, the grass, etc. Recently I travelled up to Bathurst to watch the V8 car races. This has a culture known for being a little rough, drinking and smoking. But you know what - I did it - I refused to cave into smoking even though there were 100s of people around me smoking (including my partner). Its all about choice. So during your travels CHOOSE not to smoke. CHOOSE not to give in.
PS: I found chuppa chups go well with drinking. I got a little drunk on occasion at Bathurst and the chuppa chups kept me well on track :o)
We can do this

I'm going to do it too. Tomorrow is my quit date and I intend to do it. I've done it before and I will do it again. Good luck to everybody out there on the same road.

crasher, thanks for the chuppa chups tip, i am definitely going to try that out! Not quite ready to stop drinking yet....

Annejoey, you got this! i recommend the quit smoking apps for your phone, the little counter helps me stay on track. Also posting/reading here. Good luck!!!
