Great advice - Give your craving a name

Day 15 and going great. Last 2 days have been the hardest. Read someone's old story on here recommending to give your craving a name. What a great idea and what fun. I named mine after my ex. I love abusing my cravings and it is so much easier to say no. Stay strong people. When you're struggling, just try a little harder for a little longer. The feeling will pass.

Hi AllyV, wonder if that was my story where I named my craving Margaret Thatcher. Must say, she was relentless as she would try to get me to light up and celebrate milestones. When that failed, she would enter my head when I was asleep and get me to light up and chain smoke. Needless to say when I woke up, I was horrified but relieved when I realised it was only a dream, er, a nightmare. It is so easy to tell your "craving" where to go if you realise it is not "your" craving but someone else's decision and urging to get you to fail.Wish you well.

Was definitely your story Lia. You must have written something recently which inspired me so I went back and read some of your earlier posts to see how you were feeling back then. Have enjoyed reading them. Thanks for your support. The scariest thing about addiction is that it's always there. I know people who have given up smoking or other things for years and then go back. I never want to be that person. Thanks again for the words of wisdom. I actually find myself laughing out loud after abusing my craving. Sometimes I even visualize head butting it ha ha. I will never be able to thank you enough for that.

What a wonderful idea AllyV and Lia - I will definitely be doing that from now on.... now to choose a name....

Hi AllyV. Thanks and I just keep posting because I know how hard it is to quit. Mostly best to bite the bullet and realise it is the likes of "Margaret Thatcher" and the likes who try to keep us addicted. Glad you are laughing at your "craving". Power to you.
