Day 315 smoke free
I try and pop in every now and then to see how everyone is doing and to let you know that I am still on track.
I am up to day 315 today which means I am 50 days from my year milestone (or as it is leap year is should it be 51!). To all the people starting on this journey, I have been where you are and it has been determination and hard work to get where I am. There are still times when I get a craving but they are no where near as strong now and they do pass more quickly.
In the beginning I spent a lot of time on this site reading everyone else's stories and posting a couple of my own and it helped tremendously. Thanks Lia, Dobbin, Fullofhope and the others for your helpful posts and for continuing to post your wisdom.
I found keeping myself active, eating healthier snacks and trying to not let my toxic friend to occupy my mind helped on my journey. Of course, the money I have not wasted and this winter with the constant rain - I am not that idiot outside getting wet trying to satisfy my nicotine addiction (I did not smoke inside).
For those just starting out, I wish you the best and don't give up. I smoked for over 37 years and it took me numerous attempts to get where I am today. The nicotine will keep calling you and the more you keep saying no and the passing of time, the easier it will be. The easy way is to give in but if you don't, the benefits and the great accomplishment by taking the hard way are immense.
