Hi friends, I am getting some stinking thinking. I am still weaning myself from the smokes

Sometimes I have smoke free days. I have started having apples at night. something to cleanse the palette and help my digestion. Much better than a smoke. In the morning I will have breakfast. You know I was looking forward to having ten cigarettes a day. I would consider myself to be a light smoker. To my surprise I am able to have between 0-7 a day. Hurray for me. Still cutting down. Getting closer to quitting.

Hey PenelopeJane, If that works for you then that's great. For me I had to just quit, as I was worried I would use the cutting down as a reward for not smoking as many so continue to smoke. Try reading Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking, he suggests you continue to smoke while you're reading the book. It sounds like you're planning on quitting Cold Turkey so this will help you. Hi PenelopeJane, can understand you trying to cut down...but unfortunately will not work. I began like that before i decided to quit completely and from 4 a day i was back to 25 a day in no time once some stress or form of enjoyment came along. Believe me if you are serious just say no more and get some nrt till you find it easier. On this site we all look to quitting not cutting down and having the odd puff......total commitment that is the deal..Cheers.

Hi Penelopejane. Like WhiteWillow and Johnnie, I must agree that you are either a smoker or not. To be a non smoker you cannot kid yourself that cutting down is the way to go. After 450 something days smoke free I know if I listened to "Margaret Thatcher", she would want me to reward myself with just one cigarette. I am too smart for her. I know that just one puff would send me back to day one. I would not stop at just one cigarette. Nor will you. I still have 4 1/2 packets as a reminder of my past stupidity. Have not touched one...

Why are you abusing me? I am in the process of becoming a free and independent person. Life is not a competition. I don't have to do things your way. I am glad to be who I am.

Please don't consider the information above as abuse. It is not. It is the heartfelt information from former addicts. They are sharing their journey with you. They wish you well and so do I. Just don't pick up another smoke.
