Just sharing - Wednesday was my 100th day smoke free, WOW, congrats to me, never thought I could do this.
I have spent the last couple of hours reading through my own stories, what a strange journey. The support and thoughts of all on this site have been invaluable. It also highlights how different we are and at the same time how much alike.
Even after this amount of time being smoke free, I still think about smoking nearly every day, most days I know I will remain smoke free and on others, I think maybe I should give in now.
I don't really crave a cigarette, I think I just miss it, but then I did smoke for over 16790 days, so I give myself a break and don't punish myself for still thinking about it.
Starting this journey I was advised by others to change my routine, stay away from triggers such as coffee, alcohol, and other smokers. I decided that I could remove smoking from my life without changing anything else and I am just stubborn enough to do it.
Being around smokers (I live with one and work with a couple) doesn't bother me, it hasn't since day one, I still carry a packet with me everyday. I know this is not for everyone but it works for me, I also don't consider myself to be quitting cigarettes, I look at it as I am a smoker who is smoke free. I don't really understand why it makes a difference to me but it does I don't feel the pressure that I have in the past when I considered it quitting.
After the first couple of weeks, I felt great more energy better breathing, this last a couple of weeks and it all went down hill. The last few weeks or so my health is not great but then it is that time of year.
The song title Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stone, describe my journey well.
So each day I choose to remain smoke free and I continue my journey one day at a time
Thank you all and this site for letting me share

Congrats on your "triple figures" . It feels good doesn't it!! From 1 day to 10 to 100. You obviously have a strong temperement, to quit whilst living with a smoker and to carry a pack around with you!! (temptation and taunting) I couldn't have done it that way. So well done to you :)

Hello Storm, what a great achievement.
I remember when you 1st started on your journey, the trials and tribulations of giving up the smoking.
Yes we all can suprise one and another on what and how we are all different in achieving our goals to being a non smoker.
This past week has been a real tester on my strength and stubborness, but I will not cave in to any moment of weakness, I have come to far to be fooled that, just 1 fag won't do me any harm....but I will not succumb to the Nicotine Devil after 39 weeks.
So well done Storm,.....looking forward to your next positive report on your 200th day.

Congrats and well done on another milestone...that is awesome and you should be very proud Storm.

well done storm, and while I don't carry smokes with me I can relate to the rocky road and that's just how it is I guess, life is like that smokes or not.
I also do this just for today its all I can do I cant say what tomorrow brings but I can stay smoke free today.
so well done on the ton and many more to come I am sure :)

Hi Storm, congratulations om the milestone. I think when you can blow your own horn it must mean that you have control over the addiction. It is just nice to let fellow quitters know you are still on the journey. Actually, I call it a marathon as opposed to a sprint. Those who do not understand what an addiction is think it is a simple choice. Instead, it is a daily urge we fight but it gets easier cos we have the support of others and we know we will only let ourselves down if we err. No true quitter wants to think they have disappointed those who have encouraged them. Stop, you can weather the storm...

Well done Storm - You've definitely got your own style by keeping the pack of fags but whatever works for you is great if it works so more power to you!

Hi Storm. How similar our journey sounds at a similar stage. No doubt all the others felt similar at this stage as well. What do you think that we find out how similar they are at 200 days. Hope it feels more like where we should be. Thanks for being real. Lets just keep going one day at a time and look forward to being totally free.

Thank you all, jenno211058 in the early days I don't think I would have made it without you it's nice to know you are still around.
On to the next milestone, one day at a time I'm sure I will make it.
Today has not been easy, I have started end of financial year work and as always, I am looking for the comfort of my old friend, but I know it is just memories, so I remain smoke free

Like a chameleon, just change one thing at a time... nicotine first and then change anything else much further down the track.

Hi Storm ,forst of all congrats on your BIG 100
I too carry smokes in my bag although its only day 3 smoke free for me, I feel like I am in control somehow this time ..cant wait to be able to post day 100 :)
