I'm a Addict

Hi my name is storm
I am a smoker
Today I am 84 days smoke free
I Will Not Smoke Today
The above may seem strange to some but this is how I have stopped smoking on this journey.
On previous attempts I have told people that I was quitting smokes and it never worked for me.
This time around I have thought long and hard about my situation. I know I am a nicotine addict and that won't change, what Will Change is whether I smoke or whether I am smoke free.
I choose to acknowledge that I am an addict and I can not have even one puff of a cigarette and each day I choose to stay smoke free.
This is the story of my journey, take what you will from it, if it helps good, if not then that is OK.
We are all on the same journey to a smoke free life, we take different paths sharing our stories not only helps ourselves but hopefully someone else will get some benefit.
This is the longest I have ever been smoke free in 46 years, so there is hope for all of us.
Thank you to everyone that has supported me, I don't believe I would have made it without this site.

Storm, you're amazing. My mantra is a little different but, like you, I wouldn't have stopped without the friendship and support from this site. I'm 18 days smoke free and every day I remain smoke free I feel prouder still of myself.

I am same accept I am an addict, don't take that 1st puff today and I cant set of the physical craving.
it is that simple for me and so very complicated :)
well done storm keep up the great work !

Great to see you saying what I need to hear Storm. I'm also an addict and I know I'll do just fine on the smoking front as long as I don't take that first puff. I'm 96 days nicotine free today!

Yeah storm, I'm an addict too and one day at a time we can do this, and live our lives being the best version of ourselves, free from the destruction of cigarette smoking. Stay strong. I am having a hard time today, been so emotional the last 24 hrs😭 but just for today I. Will Not Smoke

Fantastic Storm, your journey is interesting and its good to hear of a different approach and how its worked for you...thank you for sharing.

Storm - thank you for posting this insight into your journey. It highlights what is never highlighted in quit smoking campaigns, that this is an addiction and a damn nasty one that none of us ever knew at the start.
We are not bad people, just addicts who need to acknowledge our addiction.
And that is the hardest thing. Your one day at a time works.
Allen Carr's "final cigarette" was too scary to contemplate.
Quit smoking campaigns don't work.
Government loves to tax the ugly smoker.
Never addressing that it is an addiction sanctioned by the government that raises a huge amount of money.
Funny aside- my partner has some significant joint pain at the moment. Amongst other stuff, just for back up I got codeine from the pharmacy.
Had to give my driver's licence as I.D. and figure I am now on the system for codeine addicts. Just to get some pain relief. (Won't need much).
No I.D. involved for nicotine addicts- just lots of money.
Go figure that.
Well done Storm
You have helped us all to a smoke free life. With your insight.
Just thanks.

Awesome Storm.
We are all unique as our DNA; my mantra is that "there is zero benefit in smoking, the so called 'pleasure' in smoking is feeding the addiction".
Good luck.
