Hardest thing ever

I am on day 12, yesterday was insane with the cravings I almost borrowed a smoke just to give in. I use Chantix so that helps a lot!! I get to quit smoking and free crazy detailed dreams. Today when I want a smoke I go outside and walk for 3 mins. Then come back to what I was doing. This is crazy hard to kick, but it feels so good to breath a nice deep breath and no lung sounds. The COPD will always be there but at least now I know what it is really like to breath. Lots of good ideas here, I did not know the extra water trick. I hope every one of us makes it. One person here has been smoke free 99 days WOO HOO

I too am on Champix, although I opted to carry on after 3 months, so on 1 a day until the end of the month and then will reduce to 1/2 a day. Yes, the dreams!! I couldn't bear the disturbed sleep. Deep breathe through those cravings, they don't last long. good luck Jownewbie :)

12 days is amazing, well done. I've not had the dreams yet but I know a few on here have. 3 minute walk is an excellent plan. Perhaps there should be a link to distraction methods. Quick question on this - those who have had these dreams are you all on champix? Or alternative support methods. Just curious. Keep going you're amazing

yeah its not easy, not meant to be easy but its doable and I have done it hard quitting like most of us I guess.
do what ever it takes not to take that 1st puff and well it does get easier and some days are harder than others, but sucking poison in to my body isn't going to make my day better :)
the trap is thinking a smoke will make it better and then if we take that smoke after working so hard to stop just lumps a big pile of shame on us and we start the loop of shame and smoking again most addiction works this way.

WOW all you people have so much to be proud of and congratulations to us all. Nothing but smokers where I live ad work so that makes it harder. I am now on day 15 I can take a deep breath and not much lung noise when I sleep at night. The COPD must be pretty bad as I never cough anything up at all. Looking into it with my Doctor but because of ALL YOU and your support and stories it helps me through yet another day :)

BACK 1 year later and still smoke free. Found more fun things to do with my money than to watch it go up in smoke. ONE YEAR SMOKE FREE :)
