Mind over matter

This will be my last post on this site as I know my mission is now accomplished. I am now smoke free for 2 years and 1 month and have no interest in starting again. I did it 'cold turkey' and instead of torturing myself by saying 'I really want a cigarette but I can't have one' I told myself 'don't want a cigarette they are disgusting - I have given up'. I made myself feel proud of what I was doing rather than a failure. I didn't want to vape or anything as I can't see the point of replacing one habit with another. This philosophy has helped me no end and now I cannot stand the smell of nicotine on anyone, particularly females. I cannot even imagine myself holding a cigarette. Everyone has their own method of giving up. You could also keep 1 cigarette in a packet and hide it so that you know it is there rather than that panic situation that you haven't got any. As long as it is there and you know you can have it whenever you want, you probably won't use it. Whatever method works for you KEEP GOING - YOU CAN DO IT.
