Just logged in for my occasional visit and didn't believe that after smoking for 40 years, I have been smoke free for this long. I've found that I need to keep my guard up as that "friend" still tries to wheedle its way back into my life - especially after a few glasses of red. Im feeling healthier, happier and considerably richer so I don't need that stinky, costly and unhealthy "friend" anywhere near me. I still crave tobacco and have the odd dream but the pride I feel in lasting this long certainly helps. To All of you who are doing it tough -hang in there. You are worth it and with the help and encouragement of those on this site your number of quit days will grow more quickly.

Hi Feather. Agree with everything you have said. Especially about the cravings. They never let up. I am up to day 266. Cold turkey, unbelievable... Good to hear you are still on the straight & narrow...

Day one cold Turkey for me. I've been smoking for over 40 yes. Your post is very encouraging. It can be done!

Well all the years it ruled our lives, correct stinky, sickly really disgusting habit, no one needs it. How many years did I notice people giving me strange looks, I thought nothing of it. Now I believe those looks were a little more pity looks. I am very aware of not becoming a angry non smoker but for now it helps me to win the battle, well done to you all.

Fantastic achievement Feather - it is remarkable what you have done. And thank you for being so honest about still having cravings. I have moments when I really, really want one but figure that coming this far saves me from having one. Realistically, I do think it takes about a year to really let go of the grief of giving up. In the meantime, we are, as you say, healthier, richer and, let's face it, liberated from that destructive habit. Congratulations on your immense determination.

Hi Feather just visiting the site and saw your post. I wanted to say a huge congratulations on your achievement. Both you and all the others have done sooo well. I miss chatting to all of you but you provide great inspiration to those who fell off the horse. Well done
Hi Nannette. Lovely to read your post. As for falling off the horse I fell off many times before. It takes practice to stay on. It's people like yourself that helped this time so Thankyou xxx
