Christmas Cheer

Merry Christmas to you Lia. You are a big poster to this site and there have been many posts you have made that have given me food for thought and have helped me in a big way when I have been struggling.

I am definitely in a much better place financially this Christmas than I would have been if I had continued to smoke (All presents purchased way in advance and I did not have to use a credit card!!!).

I have not spent about $1,000 on cigarettes since stopping smoking and I believe the real amount I have saved would probably be double this as one of my tools when quitting smoking was to simply not carry money on me (I had a habit of just frittering away the change I received when buying cigarettes). I have continued this practice.

I had planned a two week O/S holiday for April. If I had continued to smoke I would have struggled right up until the date of departure to have enough spending money for when I am away. Because I have not been smoking I have already purchased enough currency as spending money for the trip. I have just booked a second two week O/S holiday for April (yes away for two weeks, home for four days and then away again for two more weeks) and today I will purchase about 30% of the spending money I will need for the second trip. None of this would have been remotely possible if I had continued to smoke.
