Champix day 10

Hi
Well I'm at day 10 of the Champix program. Quitting day is next Tuesday, and have already cut back to only 6 today with no dramas. However.... I am wondering how much longer the nausea will continue? I got some anti-nausea tablets today from the chemist, but they just make me even more tired than the Champix alone! I'm hoping I'm not just cutting down cause I feel so sick!
I'd love to hear that it goes away in a few days!
Thanks

I'm not on Champix. I'm using Zyban and haven't had any nausea at all. I have cut down to 1/2 my regular intake of cigarettes on Day 10. My GP suggested Zyban instead of Champix because she said Zyban had less side effects. It may be a good idea to go back to see your GP and let them know that you're experiencing severe nausea. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Suszan
I'm not seeing the GP until the 24th!
So temped to stop taking it..... Shall see how I am at the end of the weekend. I really don't think I can do another week at work feeling like this..... Maybe I'll just have to go cold turkey!
Cheers

Cold turkey would be preferable to severe nausea, if you can manage it. In any case, it doesn't sound like you can go on like you have been. Maybe you could give the Quitline a call? I'm sure the counsellors there could give you some helpful advice. Their number is 13 78 48.

Think again about replacing one drug with another and the another drug to deal with the nausea. Cold turkey is best because you quickly learn if you are dinkum when it comes to quitting. Taking drugs seems like a cop out as if giving up should be easy. Let's face it, learning to inhale the smoke in the initial stages was not easy. Reversing that won't be easy either. Hope you can stay in control of your decision and enjoy the ride, for better or worse. Do come back and vent your feelings on this site. You are in good company.

Thanks for the messages. I stopped the Champix last night. I just could bear it any longer. So this morning I can feel the cravings! I read somewhere on here about calling them 'Margret Thatcher' which I do like! So I keep telling her to go away in not so polite terms!
Im going to keep to my original quit day of Tuesday, however I shall keep the smokes to 5 for the next few days.
I'll let you know!
Cheers

learn to be strong even with aids to help, tell yourself you can stop and be determined

Hi, I've been on the Champix for just on 3 weeks now and this is my 2nd go at them. Last time I had the severe nausea too - but this time I (think !!) I've done it properly because, so far, I have had NO nausea whatever ! Can I ask you, did you take your Champix as directed and using the hints on the pack ? I found that taking mine with a full glass of water might make the difference (because I did NOT do that last time and suffered badly) it suggests on the pack. If you didn't, don't give up in despair, give 'em another go, use your Doctor to help you too. I hope you go well, look forward to hearing of your success !! 8^)

Hello Lindy Lou,
It has been 7 days since you last posted.
Just checking to see how you have coped these last 7 days.

Hello Gadrock
you are doing so great,
be positive there is no such word as (think) when it comes to Nicotine,
Nicotine doesn't want you to succeed so it puts doubts in your mind, but you are stronger and positive about what you and only you want.
Cheers Jenno
