Well Day 28 today and it hasn't been easy. The first 2 weeks I relied heavily on patches, gum and lozenges. Some moments I'd become overwhelmed with emotions - anger, tears, anxiety. I just felt bad to my children because of my erratic moods. I thought if I just started smoking at least they'll get their happy mum back. I spoke to my daughter and told her how much I was struggling and how sorry I am for my bipolar outbursts and let her know it could last a good 12 weeks. Her response was "I'd rather have you bad tempered for 12 weeks, than have you sick and die from smoking"
She put things back into perspective. Yes it can be a daily battle but it won't last. It really is getting easier every day. Don't give up!

Hi Kirstyms76,
I also used the patches, real life dreams, nausea, couldn't sleep, didn't know if I was Arthur or Martha. But I made it and I'm sure you will as well, the best way most of us get through it is one day at a time try not to mind set that it will be like this for 12 weeks it makes it so easy for the addiction to creep in ONE DAY AT A TIME.
I'm happy to say 793 days smoke free and I smoked for 33 years so keep going and everyday without smoking you get stronger .
ALL THE BEST.

Good luck Kristy, it sounds like you are doing well. I think the first 4 weeks is the biggest hurdle. You will be at day 50, then 100 before you know it.

You're doing great kirstyms76. You are over the hardest part now. It does get easier with time. I am now on day 43 of my quit and I can tell you that I am in a much better place now than I was 4 or 5 weeks ago (so is my bank balance!!!). Initially when I first quit I didn't feel normal. It felt unnatural for me not to smoke and this was unsettling (I suffered a bit of anxiety at times because of it). I am past that stage now and it now feels normal for me not to be smoking. All the best with your quit journey.

Well done on holding on tight through this roller coaster ride. Hang on and enjoy the highs. They'll help during the dumps.
