How honest 😊 I have been feeling the same..like proper low, terrible triggers regarding an emotional upset(past) I'm just trying not to smoke "just for today" I'm with you in thought believe x

Concentrate on the reasons you decided to quit, the positive ! There is NOTHING to be gained by smoking ! Understand that...quitting is as much about your thoughts as nicotine withdrawal .
Yes sometimes it feels easier to simply give in but then you will only have to start again :-)
Be assured you are fighting the good fight and with commitment you will win.

Depression is a massive trigger for picking up the smokes but if you just transfer the urge to something else if possible.....you can be depressed and still just decide to curl up in bed and hide with a good book, a cuppa and some chips or something, anything - this too will pass. You need to move onto different ways of dealing with depression. I know from first hand experience how ridiculously hard it is. I've fallen off the wagon due to depression myself many times but you just have to keep trying. The more you try the further ahead of this you will become, the more you practice different strategies the more you will be able to cope without cigarettes. Remember, if you are depressed, you will be depressed, if you are depressed and smoke, you will be depressed and have less money and can't breathe and stink of smoke and cough etc etc etc etc smoking may seem to help but it actually doesn't help at all - it will kill you while your depressed! Stay strong believe.

Feeling depressed is lousy and the time we are most likely to lapse. The best thing I have found is to go for a long walk (if it is during the day and weather permits). There is something about striding out fast and furious which helps get the endorphins (happy feelings) going. The other thing I have found is an app called Headspace which you can download for free. It has ten x minute mindfulness meditations and there is something about the guy's voice which just makes you feel better.
Good luck and keep coming back to this site.

If depression gets worse or is a problem I would talk to my GP don't take depression lightly. Personal experience there is never a good time to stop smoking so I am doing it this time. Determination is the only thing that will get a person through this addiction...wish you well :)
