10 days

I have made it 10 days! This week has been hard, thoughts of smoking constantly! But they don't last long, and my motto is just keep busy. Even if it's paying bills, blah, it takes my attention away from craving. On the plus side, I am breathing better and the kids tell me I smell good!

Hi Valic Well done only 4 days and you have done a full two weeks. That is huge as we all know how hard the first bit is. Hang in there as it does get easier. I suggest you get your children to make you a beautiful star chart and put it up in the kitchen where you can visually see it. My seven year old made me one and she puts the stars on for me and even gives me extra stars if I have had a hard day. I hope you are banking your dart money as you will be surprised how quickly it adds up. Im day 76 and my quit app tells me I HAVE NOT smoked 1888 cigarettes and I have saved 2115 dollars. How ridiculous are those statistics. Don't give those cigarette companies another cent save it all for yourself. That's my thinking now. Plus I love seeing the money grow each day. As my youngest daughter who is seven tells me "Believe in yourself Mumma you can do this." I want to see her grow up and become a woman that is my motivation and besides there is too much life to be lived ahead for all of us. XXX

Great work - keep at it - stay busy and distract yourself constantly.. well done..
Amazing how quickly the stats add up - hours to days, days to months and the reality of the $$$ saving is a great reward for everyone..

Well done Valic - that is a big chunk of the journey achieved already. I think it is all about keeping busy and also changing habits. I went for a long walk today to get lunch because I don't usually do that and I wanted to stay on track. I can't do that every day but it helped me today. Keep up the good work.

Thanks everyone! Yes the journey is sometimes hard but there are plus moments. Like tonight after dinner, I didn't automatically crave a cigarette. In fact I didn't think about it until 2hours later! I obviously said NO to that craving and patted myself on the back! So to anyone who is just starting out, it does get easier. It just takes patience and time. And people like all of you who support us when we need it. Now on with the quit! ~valic
