My near death experience

Posted in Staying quit
schedule 16 Sep 2014

My near death experience happened late august 2014. I noticed my little finger on my right hand did not close. I went to the doctor who initially said I have hit my finger and may have some nerve damage. I started to go home, the doctor rang me and told me to go to hospital which I did. He thought I may have had a stroke!!! I still smoked on the way to hospital and also while I waited in emergency. Hours passed and I was given a ct scan. Nothing showed up. Still a mystery about the finger. They decided to admit me and gave me a second ct scan. Next day had a MRI scan which did show a stroke but only very small which only affected my finger. Then I was given an angiogram which showed I had 2 blocked arteries in my neck. 1 being only 2mm from total closure and a certain massive stroke and probable death. Why? Smoking, that's why! Do your research, it blocks your arteries among many other side affects.i gave up immediately after receiving that news from my soon to be surgeon. I now have a huge scar from the operation to unblock my arteries. I want to tell my story in more detail as there is much more to tell. If my story can help 1 person quit then I will be very happy. Please contact me for any help!! Cheers, Jon.

Thank you for your story. Good luck! I quit 6 weeks ago cold turkey, and I feel great! I didn't want to wait until I get sick before I kick the nasty habit of smoking. I feel awesome I walked 3 miles everyday. God bless!
