Champix

Hi everyone

My quit attempt has been quite successful so far.  I'm on champix this time and it has been truly fantastic.  I did notice however that when I forgot to take my night time tablet I was particularly grumpy the next day.

It's been two weeks since my last smoke and I really don't crave them anymore.  I'm thinking that I'm going to start breaking the champix tablets in half and only take half a dose from now on.  Hopefully that will help reduce my need for them without the grumpiness.

Has anyone done something similar and how did it work out for them?

Hey

I'm on champix - don't break the tablets in half because it is plastic coated. The plastic coat means that the effect of the drug is slow release and if you break it in half then it won't be as effective.

I have cut down my champix from 2 to one a day. I find it has helped and I am 5 days away from being smoke free for a month !! I had too much side effects from 2 tablets a day .. But I recommend you speak to your doctor before moving any further .. :-)

Well done so far with your journey and good luck keep us updated.

Hey there, congrats on two weeks! I agree champix really is amazing, I am at 22 days and feeling pretty strong! But yes, definitely get some unpleasant side effects, nausea and headaches for me. As u know I started taking the pill with food and that cured the nausea but then the headaches started, so like P3eace, I went down to one pill a day about a week ago and I feel waaaay better and still no cravings! And P3eace is right , you can't cut these pills in half it alters the release of the medication. So probably best to talk to your doctor. Keep up the great work - we are doing this! :)

I'm 70 days off smoking thanks to Champix, no major side affects. I asked my doctor to prescribe me another starter back and used it backwards to ween off the pills, worked great. Cheers.

Hi All

339 days smoke free thanx to Champix!! I was also hit with a load of side effects but I stuck it out for the full 3 month course. I did however wean myself of the last 2 weeks. Hang in there and just do what you need to do to quit - its worth every bit of the side effects.

Good luck
