Keep distracted

Im 24 and I have been smoking since when I was 19 and I have been resisiting smoking since 12 days now. I really want to quit especially because I hate the feeling of bitterness and unclear throat and being frowned and unfresh all the time.
The tip i'd like to share is, i put a bet with my friends that I'd pay them $10 for every cigarette that I smoke. One of them is a smoker and he's doing the same. Although it all depends upon you but this will certainly help.
Another tip is taking deep breaths and doing push ups when u get cravings. And concentrating on everything else except cigarettes. Even while writing these, im getting urge to smoke because I'm not distracting myself. However, this is how I've been distracting myself. I hope I won't smoke again :)

hello lightlighter, i think your idea of the bet with your friends is fantastic.
i am thinking i may do it as a "fine" system with my boys being the recipients, and i am sure they will be in it ;-)
keep up the great work, stay strong!
:-)

I heard an interesting dare on the radio. A friend reckoned smoking was cruddy. An absolute waste of money. As a new years resolution he dared His mate to throw away a two dollar coin every time He smoked. He actually had to put it in the bin each time. His mate gave up soon after taking on the dare and within six months had saved enough to buy himself a car.
