2 years tobacco free with e-cigarettes

Hello,
This month I celebrate 2 years tobacco free, and its not down to willpower, its actually down to switching to e-cigarettes.
In October 2011 i got my first kit through the post and have not bought a packet of smokes since that time. This is my first 'quit attempt' even though i really didn't have any expectation of quitting it just happened.
I've had the odd cigarette just to see what its like, but it tastes pretty bad and i have no desire to go back because vaping is just as enjoyable as smoking was.
Please don't be put off by any bad press with e-cigs as they worked very well for a 25year pack a day smoker.
Let's hope the government comes to its senses and make these things legal to sell so you don't have to buy them off the internet to get the product with nic in them.
Cheers
Paul

I'll keep it simple and answer your question with questions.
Which of the following 2 aspects of smoking may increase your chances of dying.
1. Burning and inhaling plant material.
2. Nicotine.

Well done Tug. I too have not smoked tobacco in over 2 years because of electronic cigarettes.
In response to "stoprightnow". I didn't realise that Public Health was a moral crusade, or some kind of temperance movement. I thought Public Health was about eliminating death and disease. Electronic cigarettes help people abstain completely from tobacco smoke.
My father also, has not smoked tobacco for 5 years, however, he chose to use nicotine gum, and still does to this day.
Could you please elaborate on your reasons for being against the continued use of nicotine.

Thanks mty, it was honestly very easy. Its interesting how its seen that you (and the people around you) must suffer to give up the smokes. Seems very S&M to me.

Are 'I can quit' about the health of smokers, or about pushing a puritanical ideology ? ..... I'm confused !

they have been so bombarded with quit messages they have developed an element of self-hatred.

I quit cigarettes with electronic cigarettes after smoking 30-50 cigarettes per day over 36 years. It took me 4 days to completely stop tobacco smoking and I can't even put a traditional cigarette in my mouth. I have never felt better and never found an easier way to do it. No tar, no ash, no carbon, no 4000+ carcinogens entering my system each day. All the doctors I work with on a daily basis fully support me and see the immense changes in my health. There are many studies available about the benefits of electronic cigarettes. Just because Australia has not conducted it's own study does not mean the University of Boston study and all the other studies done in many European countries are wrong. It works and the tobacco companies are very scared.

Thanks for your story Jodi64 am glad you've had the same success as I did and the good thing is you can still enjoy vaping and are much more likely to avoid the try->fail cycle. I am so glad your doctors you work with are supportive, that counts for a lot.
IMHO I think big pharmaceutical companies would be more scared.
